GLP-1 medications are a class of treatments that work by mimicking a natural hormone produced in the body. They help regulate appetite, support healthy weight management, and improve blood sugar control. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes, certain GLP-1 medications are FDA-approved* for chronic weight management and for reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke, or cardiovascular death) in adults with established heart disease who are overweight or obese.

A compounded GLP-1 medications is custom-made by licensed pharmacies when an FDA-approved option is not suitable for an individual patient. Your provider will review whether this applies to your care and determine which medications option is best for your needs. All GLP-1 medications are prescribed under medical supervision and work best when combined with healthy eating and regular physical activity.

How GLP-1 medications work:

  • Appetite Control: Helps reduce cravings and increases feelings of fullness.
  • Weight Support: May support weight management when combined with lifestyle changes.
  • Blood Sugar Regulation: Enhances insulin release, lowers glucagon, and slows digestion for better glucose control.

Risks/Side effects:

  • Common side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation.
  • Potential risks: pancreatitis, gallbladder issues, thyroid C-cell tumors (boxed warning).
  • Patients should discuss risks and monitoring requirements with their provider.

This allows medical personnel to better design a health and wellness program tailored to each person.

The Evolt 360 Body Scanner uses the most up-to-date scientific information relating to Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to provide personalized measurements, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
